v4.9.0 - Major Card Rebalancing


Major Card Rebalancing

In this patch, we adjusted the balance on many cards. Additionally, the saving system was updated so that meta-progression and save files now save to the persistent data path and can be used between versions more easily.

Changelog

  • Card rebalancing - Many cards have been greatly rebalanced.
  • Card rephrasing - Almost all cards have been reworded for consistency with alchemy-generated cards. Additionally, alchemy generated card text has been cleaned up substantially.
  • Removed redundant card abilities - The most common redundant card mechanics are now checked for and removed from generated cards.
  • Opponent energy - You can now see your opponent's energy. It will always appear to be full, because energy for both sides currently restores at the start of the player turn. This will be fixed in a later patch.
  • Game save persistence - Save files and meta-progression now save to the game data path and will persist between versions without having to manually copy them over.
  • UI adjustment - The architect menu close button area was too big. This has been corrected.
  • Blue boss balance adjustment - The blue boss was way too strong and has been nerfed substantially. It no longer draws 2 cards every 2 turns in addition to draining your energy. This should prevent some of the horrible loops it could get into when it had "gain control of target minion" cards and was able to steal all your minions every turn, leaving the situation hopeless.
  • Bugfixes - Several bugs have been fixed:
    • The game end screen should now appear after defeating the last boss.
    • Transforming cards should now animate nicely instead of switching to their final state at the beginning of the animation queue.
    • Adding a large amount of random turbulence will now correctly add the amount you specified.
    • Clicking "DONE" will no longer prompt an "Are you sure?" dialog incorrectly if animations are currently playing.

What's Next?

  • New art!
  • Lots of new starting decks that can be unlocked with the Turbulence difficulty system.
  • Architect menu will be able to properly gray out items you can't afford.
  • Blue starter deck will be rebalanced.
  • Some UI cleanup.
  • Some minor rule cleanup.
  • Some minor bugfixes.
